1940s IWC dual tone cal. 83 with Portuguese import stamp

Produced in the early 40s, this gorgeous, very rare and extremely well preserved calatrava-style IWC is one of the most elegant writwatches we have had here for long. This, perfectly balanced in design as in construction, perfectly sized, it is for us the ultimate dress watch.

Featuring an extremely rare, for the era, black and gray dial with golden applied numerals and hands, it displays the famous Schaffhausen brand under certain lights and angles, the logo having faded over time to become what is commonly called a ghost. The 3 parts case is brushed with a miror bezel, the whole remaining unpolished and free of any mark. The only noticeable element is an import stamp of the Portuguese customs on the top left lugs, which is not only coveted by collectors, but also very interesting for the manufacture who produced the famous Portuguese.
