Founded in 1892 in New York City, by David T. Abercrombie and Ezra Fitch, Abercrombie & Fitch (or “A&F”) was an elite supplier of sporting and outdoor excursion goods. It was during the 50/60 period that some of the brand’s great leaders met some of the great representatives of Heuer, at the time very well known for its chronographs.

The fruit of this collaboration will have created some marvels from Heuer, such as the Seafarer or Mareograph, the Solunar and of course this reference 2444 similar to a Pre-Daytona.

This reference 2444 is very inspired by the earlier professional versions of Heuer chronographs offered in the 1940s with a very strong 60s connotation.

We find the very fair size of 36mm perfectly counterbalanced by the 3 large counters (Big Eyes) of the dial. The very simple and slender case with beveled lugs and the smooth bezel are nuanced by the two-tone hands and indexes. On the dial, the Abercrombie & Fitch Co replaces the Heuer. Both very readable and very neat, the silver dial is balanced with a discreet railroad enhanced by small luminous triangles reinforced by a predominant 12.

The watch is powered by the famous Valjoux 72 movement, which perfectly turns the counters, minutes, seconds and 12h of the chronograph.
