1950s Jaeger-LeCoultre dress watch with caliber 449

The history of Jaeger-Lecoultre dates back to 1833, in the heart of the Vallée de Joux. During this period, the company has been at the origin of numerous timepieces and great horological achievements, such as the Reverso, the Memovox and the Geomatic. But Jaeger-Lecoultre was known at the time as a great watch manufacturer, always at the forefront of technology and ready to take up all the challenges linked to the realization of movements and concepts. Thanks to this know-how, the Manufacture was the most judicious choice for the great houses, Audemars, Vacheron Constantin…

Aesthetically this piece is simple and classic, a beautiful 3 hands watch perfectly well-designed and executed. It has the particularity of being oversized with a large diameter of 37.5mm, a relatively large dimension for the time. Another particularity comes from its gold dauphine hands and indexes that gives more warmth to the overall.

From a technical point of view, the beautifully finished movement 449 is similar to the very famous 470 caliber, but with a small second complication. In fact, the latter was more commonly used by other famous manufactures at the time, such as Vacheron Constantin.
