1960s Mathey Tissot Type 20 with Valjoux 222

Mathey-tissot is an iconic and historic Swiss brand dating back to 1886, initially specializing in movements and components and known for producing movements for many other manufacturers.

Both the brand and its watches are rich in anecdote and history. This model is inevitably part of it. Indeed, this watch can be assimilated to the Type 20/XX of Breguet, it is normal they are twins. What is generally ignored is that the 2,000 Type 20 chronographs sold by Breguet to the French Ministry of Defence were never manufactured by Breguet. In fact, Mathey-Tissot assembled the 5101/54 model for Breguet, and then produced civilian 2 and 3 register models under its own name.

This beautiful Mathey-Tissot Type 20 civilian watch is the same timepiece: the case, dial and Valjoux 222 movement are all made by the same manufacturers to the same specifications as the Breguet model.

It has a 38.5mm diameter case with a screwed and numbered back, a black pilot type dial with luminous Arabic numerals and 2 counters, a constant second and a 15-minute recorder. This watch is powered by the Valjoux 222 movement, Flyback with a 48-hour power reserve and anti-magnetic.

This particular watch comes with a really nice patina and great overall condition.
