1969 Universal Geneve Polerouter Date rare guilloche dial with paper
Universal Geneve, creator of legendary watches during the 20th century which was distinguished by their elegance and their technicality. Among the flagship models such as Compax, Aero-Compax, Tri-Compax, stands the legendary Polerouter. Created in 1954 by the already very promising Gérald Genta, when he was only 23 years old, and called “Polarouter”, to commemorate the polar flights of the Scandinavian Airlines, it was quickly renamed Polerouter.
This rare model bears the reference 169101/08. This specific reference features a sleek 18kt yellow gold case and a mesmerizing guilloché dial. It is also distinguished by its chapter ring finish, here sand blasted instead of hatched, as it is usually seen on other models. It probably is a design choice: a guilloché chapter ring would have been too much, next to a guilloché dial.
It is animated by the patented Micro-rotor 69 caliber.
A collector piece in brilliant condition, just like we love ’em.
