1990s Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Championship 56175TT “Nick Faldo”

Audemars Piguets, a reference house in the watchmaking sector, was created in 1875 in the Vallée de Joux. Driven by the vision of Audemars and Piguet, the company is known for producing bold, complicated, and luxurious timepieces, wristwatches as pocket watches. To the dismay of complicated watch enthusiasts, it is thanks to their collaboration with the greatest watch designer, Gerald Genta, that Audemars Piguet is recognized worldwide.

Designed in 1972, the Royal Oak is one of the riskiest bet of the manufacture. When it was released the same year, it became the world’s first luxury sports watch fully made of stainless steel. Gerald Genta designed an atypical watch inspired by a diving helmet locked by large screws to fight against the pressure of the depths.

Are you a golf enthusiast, or just a Royal Oak lover ? What you see here is the reference Championship 56175TT, a rare model produced in only 2000 examples. The Royal Oak Championship was launched to celebrate Sir Nick Faldo’s two consecutive victories at the Masters and the British Open in 1990. It bears all the essence of the first Royal Oak, with a very nice patina of the dial. The plus of this watch, beyond its history and its rarity, is the use, for the first time by AP, of a combination of steel and tantalum. This brings a touch of modernity and an admirable reflection created by Tantalum, a rare, hard, blue-gray, lustrous transition metal that is highly corrosion-resistant.

This beautiful 33mm Royal Oak from the 90’s is rich in history and equipped with the AP quartz calibre 2612, making it extremely slim on the wrist. Its size and presence make it a perfect fit for both men and women’s wrists.
