1990s Patek Philippe ref. 5080/1 Neptune
Patek Philippe, an iconic house in the watch industry. It is the only independent company that continues to be family-run by the Sterns. Known for having created a system that allowed time setting and winding by means of a crown and not by keys as before.
Patek Philippe has always maintained the growing value of its models. It is estimated that from its debut in 1839 to 2010, no more than 1 million watches have been produced.
The Neptune, launched in 1996, was marketed as both a refined dress watch and a versatile sports timepiece. Its 36.5 mm case, classic dial, and elegant leaf hands emphasized its formal style, while features like a 30-meter water resistance, crown protectors, and a sturdy engine-turned bezel added a sporty edge.
This particular Neptune, reference 5080 from 1998, has a black dial featuring a closed minute track, five-minute markers, and large 18k gold Roman numerals at the quarter hours. It also includes bold leaf hands and a subtle date window at 3 o’clock.
