Blancpain was established in 1735 by Jehan-Jacques Blancpain in the village of Villeret, making it one of the oldest surviving watchmaking brands in the world. The brand built a reputation for high-quality, meticulously crafted timepieces.
In the early 1980s, Blancpain, under the leadership of Jean-Claude Biver and Jacques Piguet, decided to revive the brand’s historical roots. They focused on creating classic timepieces that adhered to traditional watchmaking values, a response to the quartz crisis that had impacted the Swiss watch industry.
The Villeret collection was introduced as part of this revival, named after the brand’s birthplace to highlight its commitment to heritage and tradition. The collection features elegant, understated designs with a focus on mechanical movements and classical aesthetics. This line is characterized by its clean, refined lines, Roman numerals, and slim, double-stepped cases.
This model, often called Ultra Slim, comes in a well balanced 34mm steel case, with a clean and elegant white dial with small roman numerals and a subtle date aperture. It is in excellent condition and comes with box, papers and original buckle.
