Buying a nice vintage Omega Speedmaster on a budget has become difficult. Pre-moon examples are often out of reach for most, and late 60s and 70s ones are following the trend. If you add to that the increasing interest due to the 50 years of the Moon landing and the relaunch of the 321 movement by Omega earlier this month, you have the perfect context for an uncontrolled price rise.
So what to do now ? Enjoy your dream watch while being broke ? Or maybe go for later examples… The 90s speedies have it all after all… if you go for a 145.0022, with tritiumdial and plexy, often nicely patinated, and usually a better shape (unpolished case) and more chances to retain all the original pieces (especially crown and pushers). And you know what ? You’re just looking at one.
