Breguet reference 3130 mk.1 dial in yellow gold with box

1992 | Yellow gold | Automatic | 36.0mm

Sale price€14.900,00

Few watches in the modern era have done more to define what a Breguet should look like than the reference 3130. Conceived in the early 1980s by Daniel Roth — then head of development at Breguet — it drew direct inspiration from Abraham-Louis Breguet's own pocket watches, most notably the legendary No. 5. The result was a watch that felt simultaneously ancient and radical: nothing else on the market looked remotely like it.

This example, a série B from 1992, is powered by calibre 502.DR, the exceptionally thin automatic movement developed by Roth on a Frédéric Piguet 71 base, with power reserve, moon phase, and date complications arranged in Breguet's characteristic asymmetric layout. The guilloché silvered dial is a Mk1 — the earliest dial variant, identifiable by its double concentric rings around the date track, vintage-feel serif fonts, plain moon (no engraved face), and power reserve graduated in 10-hour increments up to 50 hours. Finding a Mk1 dial on a série B is a genuine collector's detail.

Presented in excellent condition with its original 18k yellow gold buckle, and accompanied by its original box. A serious piece for the serious collector.

Breguet

Founded in 1775 by Abraham-Louis Breguet in Paris, Breguet is one of the oldest and most historically significant watchmakers in the world. Renowned as a pioneer of horological innovation, Breguet introduced groundbreaking inventions such as the tourbillon, the Breguet balance spring, and the first wristwatch, created in 1812 for Caroline Murat, Queen of Naples. His clients included European royalty, intellectuals, and influential figures such as Napoleon Bonaparte and Marie Antoinette. Breguet’s aesthetic codes—fluted casebands, blued hands, and guilloché dials—remain hallmarks of the brand’s identity and have defined classical watch design for over two centuries.

Now headquartered in the Vallée de Joux, Switzerland, and part of the Swatch Group, Breguet continues to honor its legacy through exquisite craftsmanship and technical excellence. The brand maintains an in-house approach to manufacturing, producing highly finished calibers that often incorporate complications such as perpetual calendars, minute repeaters, and tourbillons. Contemporary Breguet collections like the Classique, Marine, and Tradition reflect the maison’s dedication to heritage while embracing modern advancements. Each timepiece is a testament to Breguet’s enduring influence on fine watchmaking and its ongoing role in shaping horological history.
