Movado "Gold Nugget" — hammered gold dial and bezel, 36mm, mint condition

1970 | Yellow gold | Manual | 36.0mm

Sale price€5.900,00

Movado in the 1960s and 1970s produced some of the most inventive dress watches of the era — pieces that pushed surface treatment and dial craft well beyond what convention demanded. This example is a perfect illustration. The entire front of the watch — dial and bezel alike — is covered in a deeply textured hammered gold finish, the irregular surface catching and breaking light in every direction. The effect is somewhere between raw gold ore and beaten metalwork, hence the collector nickname that fits it perfectly.

Roman numerals in black punctuate the textured surface at the principal hours, their contrast giving just enough legibility without disturbing the overall composition. The gold hands complete the picture with matching warmth. The bezel, sharing the same treatment as the dial, blurs the boundary between case and dial in a way that feels entirely intentional — a single unified surface rather than separate elements.

At 36mm, it wears with a presence that the texture amplifies considerably. The manually wound movement is entirely appropriate to the slim profile of the case.

This example presents in mint condition — the hammered surfaces unmarked, the dial pristine, the buckle present. A piece that has clearly been kept with real care, and shows it.
