Movado Gilt Black Dial with NOS Gay Freres extensible bracelet

1950 | Stainless steel | Manual | 31.0mm

Sale price€6.900,00

Movado in the 1950s and early 1960s produced some of the most graphically confident dials of the era and this example is a strong illustration of why.

The black dial, lacquered to a depth that catches light like polished jet, carries applied gilt indices that shimmer against the dark surface with the particular warmth that only gold-on-black achieves.

A single applied double baton at 12, matching slender markers at the remaining hours, and gilt hands: a composition of total simplicity and total confidence.

The inner chapter ring, a fine, graduated minute track running just inside the dial's edge, adds a layer of functional detail without disrupting the overall graphic clarity.

The "Movado" signature sits alone above centre, no model name, no additional text.

The watch needs none.

At 31mm, it wears with the intimate scale of a piece designed before size became a consideration, present on the wrist without imposing, legible without effort.

The bracelet is the standout accessory: a Gay Frères extensible in new old stock condition. Gay Freres was the legendary Geneva bracelet maker whose work equipped the greatest Swiss houses of the twentieth century.

NOS Gay Frères bracelets in this condition are collected in their own right. Finding one never worn and paired with this rare and mint watch is genuinely exceptional.

A complete, characterful Movado and a bracelet that deserves equal billing.
