The Seamaster line dates back to 1948, launched to mark Omega's centenary and built around the waterproof case designs the brand had developed for the British military at the end of the war. Reference 166.003 belongs to the mid 1960s generation of the model, when Omega settled on a clean, dressier take on the Seamaster identity, one that still holds up remarkably well today.

This example carries its original silver dial, with applied baton indices and a date window, powered by the automatic caliber 562, a workhorse movement Omega used across much of its output in this period. The 34mm steel case remains unpolished, its lugs and bezel edges still sharp and well defined rather than softened by past refinishing, a detail collectors look for specifically on watches of this age.

The overall presentation is coherent and honest, a piece that has clearly been left alone rather than over restored. For anyone drawn to Omega's quieter, more understated side of the 1960s, this is a genuinely appealing example to live with.
