Patek Philippe Gondolo reference 3842P in platinum — diamond dial, full set
1990 | Platinum | Manual | 29.0mm
The Gondolo takes its name from a Brazilian retailer — Gondolo & Labouriau of Rio de Janeiro — that commissioned tonneau and cushion-shaped Patek Philippe watches in the early twentieth century. The modern Gondolo revival honours that heritage with a case architecture that feels simultaneously historical and entirely resolved: a barrel shape with long, elegant flanks that flows naturally onto the wrist.
Reference 3842P executes this in platinum — the most demanding and most prestigious of watchmaking metals, heavier than gold, harder to work, and possessed of a cool, grey-white depth that no other material replicates. Against it, the cream dial carries twelve diamond hour markers — their brilliance amplified by the neutrality of the platinum surround — and two slender hands that read with absolute precision across an uncluttered surface.
The manually wound movement inside is calibre 175, Patek's ultra-thin manufacture calibre, its finishing meeting the exacting standards that platinum cases demand and deserve.
This example comes as a full set — the most complete possible presentation for a Gondolo of this rarity. Platinum Patek Philippe dress watches in full set condition represent the apex of what the secondary market can offer: a combination of material, maker, complication, and documentation that admits no compromise. It was serviced by Patek Philippe in 2025 (invoice is included).
Exceptional in every aspect.
