Rolex Datejust Cadran bleu ref. 16000
1986 | Stainless steel | Automatic | 36.0mm
The Datejust needs no introduction — Rolex's most enduring dress sports watch, in continuous production since 1945, and the reference against which most Swiss automatic watches of the twentieth century were measured. Reference 16000, produced from 1977 through the mid-1980s, brought the Datejust into the modern era: sapphire crystal, quick-set date, and the clean steel case that would define the model for a generation.
This example wears a blue dial — a rich, deep tone that catches the light beautifully against the steel case and Oyster bracelet. Gilt baton indices complete a composition that is as legible as it is elegant.
What makes this particular piece genuinely unusual is the second dial included with it: the original champagne tapestry dial with which the watch left the factory. Two dials for one watch — the blue installed, the champagne preserved alongside it — is a combination that almost never survives intact. The buyer acquires not one Datejust but two personalities in a single reference.
Both dials in good condition, the watch presenting well overall. A versatile, complete, and quietly exceptional 16000.
