Rolex Datejust reference 1600 in stainless steel with Buckley dial

1976 | Stainless steel | Automatic | 36.0mm

Sale price€7.500,00

The ref. 1600 is the Datejust that serious collectors circle back to — produced from the late 1950s through the 1970s, it sits in a sweet spot of Rolex history where case proportions were modest, finishing was impeccable, and the dial options were genuinely varied. The Buckley dial is among the most sought-after of those variants: a white surface with bold black Roman numerals and yellow gold lume dots on the peripheral track — a graphic, confident layout that gives the watch a character entirely its own. But most importantly, finding a 1600 Buckley is very rare, most smooth bezel Buckley were produced later, under the reference 16000.

The 36mm Oyster case in stainless steel wears a smooth bezel and houses calibre 1570, Rolex's robust and accurate automatic movement that powered the brand's sport and dress watches through the 1960s and 70s. The gilt hands complement the dial's warm accents perfectly.

This rare example presents in very good condition, with a case that has never been polished — retaining its original lines and surfaces exactly as Rolex intended. All lume plots are present and took a strong yellow patina, all that we look for on a Buckley dial. It is fitted on its original Oyster bracelet.
