Rolex Disco Volante reference 9522 with dark grey dial
1961 | Yellow gold | Manual | 36.0mm
In the 1960s, Rolex was not only the brand of the Submariner and the Day-Date. Alongside its Oyster watches, it produced a family of slim gold dress watches signed “Precision”, and the reference 9522 is one of the most elegant. Examples are scarce today, which says a lot about how few were made.
This one has a 36mm yellow gold case with small hooded lugs and a wide engraved bezel that catches the light at every angle. The grey dial is pure restraint: gold crown, gold “Rolex Precision” signature, long dauphine hands and a small seconds at six marked by a fine cross. Inside sits the manual-wind calibre 1000. The watch is in good condition, with a few repairs along the edge of the case, and comes on a black leather strap with its Rolex buckle.
A Rolex that doesn’t shout, with the kind of quiet confidence that only gets better with time.
