Blancpain Villeret in gold & steel - Full Set
1995 | Steel & gold | Automatic | 34.0mm
Blancpain relaunched in 1983 with a single founding principle: no quartz, ever. The Villeret collection was the purest expression of that commitment — round cases, mechanical movements, complications that justified their existence. The Triple Calendar Moonphase became one of its defining pieces: a watch that assembled day, date, month, and lunar phase on a single dial with a clarity that more complex perpetual calendars rarely achieve.
The dial is a masterclass in legibility. Day and month appear in twin apertures at the upper register, the date tracks a peripheral scale around the entire dial, Roman numerals anchor the hours, and the moonphase display sits at 6 o'clock beneath the "JB 1735" signature — a reference to Jean-Jacques Blancpain, founder, and the year the manufacture was established. Everything readable at a glance, nothing superfluous.
The two-tone steel and yellow gold case — echoed throughout the integrated bracelet with its alternating polished gold and brushed steel links — gives the ensemble a warmth that full steel cannot replicate, and an accessibility that full gold would preclude.
This example comes as a full set, the most reassuring possible presentation for a Blancpain complication of this generation.
A complete, characterful expression of the Villeret philosophy.
