The Marine was introduced by Breguet in 1990 as a contemporary interpretation of the marine chronometers that Abraham-Louis Breguet supplied to the French Navy at the turn of the nineteenth century. Where those instruments were built for precision at sea, the modern Marine translates that heritage into a wristwatch of considerable refinement — round, understated, and carrying the full weight of the maison's decorative vocabulary.

Reference 3400 in platinum is the most prestigious expression of the early Marine line. The case material alone changes the character of the watch entirely — platinum's cool, grey-white depth gives the Marine a gravitas that steel cannot replicate, its weight on the wrist a constant reminder of the metal's density and rarity.

The dial is unmistakably Breguet: a cream guilloché centre field surrounded by a darker anthracite chapter ring carrying the Roman numerals in the distinctive open Breguet style.
