Ebel 1911 Le Modulor chronograph reference 9137240 with blue dial

Acier inoxydable | Automatique | 40.0 mm

Prix de vente€2.800,00

Ebel was founded in La Chaux-de-Fonds in 1911, and the 1911 collection carries that date with pride. In 1982, Ebel launched its first chronograph using Zenith’s El Primero, six years before Rolex famously did the same. In the 1990s, the brand moved to a movement of its own: a reworked Lemania-based calibre that appeared in the Le Modulor in 1995 as the Ebel calibre 137.

This example has everything that makes the Modulor recognisable: a 40mm steel case with its signature screwed bezel, crisp pushers and a deep blue dial with three tone-on-tone subdials, bold Arabic numerals and a date window. The movement is self-winding and chronometer-certified, as the dial proudly states. The watch is in as-new condition and comes on its strap with the original Ebel deployant buckle.

A serious 1990s chronograph with a strong personality and a movement story worth telling, in a blue that suits it perfectly.

Ebel

Founded in 1911 in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland, Ebel was established by husband-and-wife duo Eugène Blum and Alice Lévy—whose initials gave birth to the brand name (Eugène Blum Et Lévy). From its inception, Ebel positioned itself at the intersection of elegant design and Swiss precision, becoming known for its refined aesthetic and technical craftsmanship. Early on, the brand built its reputation through innovation, including a patented ring-shaped clasp in 1914 and its role as a supplier of chronometers to the Swiss army during World War II. Ebel's commitment to quality earned it the prestigious Geneva Seal in the 1920s, solidifying its place among respected Swiss watchmakers.

Ebel reached new heights in the late 20th century, particularly under the leadership of Pierre-Alain Blum, the founder’s grandson. During the 1970s and 1980s, Ebel gained recognition for the Sport Classic line, distinguished by its signature wave bracelet and harmonious design—an icon that helped redefine luxury sports watches. The brand also played a discreet yet critical role in the quartz era, assembling movements for other esteemed Swiss maisons, including Cartier. Today, Ebel continues to honor its design-first philosophy, producing timepieces that balance architectural elegance with enduring watchmaking heritage, appealing to those who value both form and function.
