Gerald Genta Mickey Mouse reference G.3487.7 first series, mother-of-pearl dial

Acier inoxydable | Automatique | 36.0 mm

Prix de vente€12.900,00

Gérald Genta drew the Royal Oak and the Nautilus, then did something nobody in fine watchmaking dared to do: he put Mickey Mouse on a serious mechanical watch. When he showed his first Disney pieces at the Basel fair in 1984, the industry was not amused. Today, those same watches are among the most collected of his work.

This G.3487.7 is one of the very first Genta Mickeys, and at 36mm it comes in one of the largest sizes he ever made for the model. The octagonal steel case is pure Genta, with the case extending into a single lug at each end. On the mother-of-pearl dial, Mickey stands in his early cartoon look, his two arms telling the hours and minutes. Small tritium dots mark the hours, a rare detail on these dials. The watch comes on its rare steel bracelet.

Serious watchmaking that doesn’t take itself too seriously. Hard to wear without smiling.

Gerald Genta

Gerald Genta was founded in 1969 by the iconic Swiss watch designer of the same name, known for creating legendary models like the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak and Patek Philippe Nautilus. With his own brand, Genta pushed the boundaries of traditional watchmaking, focusing on bold case designs and advanced complications like minute repeaters, tourbillons, and retrograde displays.

His watches were both technically impressive and artistically daring — including playful models like the “Fantasy” series with Disney characters and jumping hour displays. Genta’s unique mix of creativity and haute horlogerie earned him a prestigious clientele, including royalty.

The brand was acquired by Bulgari in 2000, and its legacy continues to inspire modern watch design, especially in the evolution of the Bulgari Octo line.
