The Gerald Genta Fantasy collection occupies a wonderfully strange corner of haute horlogerie, a line where the same maison responsible for the Royal Oak and the Nautilus turned its octagonal case design toward something altogether more playful. Produced under licence with Disney from the late 1990s through the 2000s, the Fantasy watches placed hand-painted enamel characters onto mother-of-pearl dials, executed with the same artisanal techniques Genta applied to its most serious complications.

This example features the brand's wealthy, top-hatted character rendered in vivid hand-painted enamel against a luminous mother-of-pearl dial, the character depicted mid-stride alongside money bags and gold coins, a fitting subject for the maison's most collectible whimsy. Roman numerals and a railway minute track frame the scene with a formality that contrasts delightfully with its subject. The signature octagonal Genta case, with its faceted bezel and bold lugs, provides a serious architectural counterpoint to the dial's lightheartedness.
