Before the hyphen and the unified brand, "Jaeger" appeared alone on dials destined for certain markets — and among the most evocative of those markets was Alexandria, Egypt, in the 1940s. Horovitz was one of the city's great watchmakers and retailers, serving a cosmopolitan clientele at a moment when Alexandria was among the most sophisticated cities in the Mediterranean. A double-signed Jaeger from Horovitz Alexandrie is a watch with a precise address, a precise era, and a social world behind it that no longer exists.

The dial is extraordinary in its density: tachymeter and telemeter scales in blue and red running the full periphery, Arabic numerals in the period style, two counters at 9 and 3, and that warm, granular patina that cream dials develop over eighty years of honest existence.
