Movado "Fab. Suisse" Chronograph M90 in yellow gold

Or jaune | Manuel | 34.0 mm

Prix de vente€6.900,00

Movado in the late 1940s and early 1950s produced some of the most accomplished chronographs of the era — pieces that combined genuine technical ambition with a dial clarity that many better-known contemporaries struggled to match. The M90 calibre, Movado's in-house chronograph movement of the period, is among the finest achievements of that generation: a column-wheel mechanism of proven reliability, built entirely within the manufacture.

The dial is a study in functional elegance. Two symmetrical registers at 9 and 3 carry the 60-minute and running seconds counters respectively, framed by a tachymeter scale in blue and a finely printed chapter ring. The Arabic numerals at 12, 3, 6, and 9 anchor the layout with period confidence, and the "Movado — Fab. Suisse" signature speaks to an era when Swiss manufacture origin was a mark of genuine pride rather than mere marketing.

The yellow gold case at 34mm wears with the intimate scale typical of the finest dress chronographs of its generation — substantial enough to carry the dial density, refined enough to sit comfortably beneath a cuff. The lugs retain their original profile with the warm patina that only solid gold develops over decades. Produced in France for Movado, it bears two eagle head hallmarks, the reference 9023 and the Movado signature.

A Movado M90 in yellow gold is a serious collector's chronograph — technically accomplished, visually resolved, and increasingly difficult to find.

Founded in 1881 in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland, Movado is known for its clean, minimalist designs, most notably the iconic Museum Watch, introduced in 1947. The Museum Watch's simple yet elegant dial design, featuring a single dot at 12 o’clock, became one of the most recognized timepieces of the 20th century. Movado has a history of designing stylish and sophisticated watches that are both functional and artistic. The brand is also known for its contributions to the art of watchmaking and has collaborated with leading designers and artists over the years.
