Movado M95 Chronograph in yellow gold
Or jaune | Manuel | 34.5 mm
Movado has a far richer past than its modern catalogue suggests. In the late 1930s, the brand worked with Frédéric Piguet on a chronograph movement of its own: the two-register M90 came first, and the three-register M95 followed in 1939, adding a module for the hour counter. The M95 stayed in the catalogue until 1970 and gave its name to the watches it powered.
This example dates from the 1950s and its gold case makes it a rare find. The silvered dial is a lesson in mid-century legibility, with slim gold batons, a “Base 1000” tachymeter scale, a 30-minute counter at three, small seconds at nine and the 12-hour register at six. One detail M95 owners love: the pushers work “upside down”, the lower one starting and stopping the chronograph, the upper one resetting it. The watch is in very good condition and comes on a black leather strap.
A serious chronograph from Movado’s best years, dressed in gold. Hard to find, and even harder to give back once you’ve worn it.
