Movado has been building serious watches since its founding in La Chaux-de-Fonds in 1881, long before the Museum Dial became the name most people associate with the brand today. In the 1940s and 50s, Movado produced a run of dress watches with in-house movements and a strong sense of proportion, and it's from this period that the sculptural claw lug case design emerges, a small architectural flourish that sets these pieces apart from the more conservative dress watches of their era.

This example is cased in yellow gold, with a silver dial, applied Arabic numerals and a railway minute track, powered by Movado's own manual winding movement. The claw lugs give the case real character on the wrist, sharp and slightly aggressive against an otherwise restrained dial.
